Greens emerged as champions of the SLCT20 League, organized by Sri Lanka Cricket, after defeating the Greys in a high-voltage grand final at the SSC Grounds in Colombo today.
Batting first, Greens piled up an imposing 189/4 in 20 overs. Star batsman Kusal Mendis lit up the final with a blistering 77 off 47 balls, hammering 5 fours and 5 sixes. Sadeera Samarawickrama held his ground with an unbeaten 49, while Kamindu Mendis chipped in with a valuable unbeaten 42.
In reply, Greys could muster only 166/8 in their 20 overs. Niroshan Dickwella fought hard with a quickfire 50, supported by Dinesh Chandimal’s 36, but it wasn’t enough to chase down the target.
With the ball, Chamika Karunaratne starred for Greens, grabbing 3 crucial wickets to derail the Greys’ chase.
Greens sealed the title with a 23-run victory, lifting the SLCT20 trophy in style. 🏆
