The International Cricket Council (ICC) has announced that there will be no changes to the match schedule of the 2026 ICC Men’s T20 World Cup, confirming that the tournament will be conducted as originally planned.
This decision was taken following a discussion among ICC board members, according to an official statement released today.
The ICC’s official website noted that the discussion was held online, amid reports that Bangladesh had expressed reluctance to play its matches in India during the tournament. However, the ICC stated that the decision to proceed without changes was made after confirming that there are no security threats to players, media personnel, or other stakeholders.
The ICC has formally informed the Bangladesh Cricket Board that the Bangladesh government has been granted 24 hours to make a final decision regarding participation in the tournament.
According to the confirmed schedule, if Bangladesh refuse to play their matches in India, Scotland will be given the opportunity to participate in the World Cup in their place.
The 2026 ICC Men’s T20 World Cup is scheduled to begin on the 7th of next month, with India and Sri Lanka serving as joint hosts.
