India Begin Asia Cup 2025 Campaign with Record 9-Wicket Win

India got their Asia Cup 2025 campaign off to a flying start with a commanding 9-wicket win against the United Arab Emirates in the tournament’s second match played yesterday in Abu Dhabi.

Winning the toss, Indian skipper opted to bowl first, a decision that paid immediate dividends. The UAE batting line-up crumbled for just 57 runs in 17.3 overs, marking the lowest-ever total recorded by any team against India in T20 internationals.

Only opener Alishan Sharafu (22) and Mohammad Waseem (19) showed some resistance, while the rest of the UAE order collapsed. For India, Kuldeep Yadav was the chief destroyer, returning figures of 4 wickets for 7 runs, while Shivam Dube chipped in with 3 for 4, sealing complete dominance with the ball.

Chasing a modest target of 58, India raced to victory in just 4.3 overs, losing only one wicket. Abhishek Sharma smashed 30 runs, while Shubman Gill remained unbeaten on 20, guiding India home in emphatic style.

With this emphatic result, India have sent a strong message to the rest of the teams, stamping their authority early in the Asia Cup 2025.
