The second match of the two-game ODI series between Sri Lanka and Australia commenced today at the R. Premadasa Stadium in Colombo.
Winning the toss, Sri Lanka opted to bat first and posted a competitive total of 281/4. The innings started with Pathum Nissanka falling for 15 runs.
However, Kusal Mendis and debutant Nishan Madushka built a solid 98-run partnership for the second wicket.
Mendis delivered a brilliant century, scoring 101 off 115 balls, while captain Charith Asalanka remained unbeaten with a crucial 78 off 66 balls. Janith Liyanage also made a valuable contribution, remaining not out on 32 off 21 balls.
For Australia, Ben Dwarshuis, Aaron Hardie, Sean Abbott, and Adam Zampa took one wicket each.
With this performance, Sri Lanka now leads the series 1-0.
