Located at Via Lattanzio 46, 80126, Naples, the newly established cricket club stands as a valuable hub for the Sri Lankan community in Italy to engage in and promote the game of cricket.

A Blessed Beginning

Highlighting the importance of religious harmony and blessings, the inaugural ceremony commenced with religious observances and blessings conducted by the Maha Sangha and respected clergy, setting a positive and disciplined tone for the club’s journey ahead. The organizing committee emphasized beginning this sporting mission with pure intentions and spiritual guidance.

Chief Guest of Honour

The chief guest for this prestigious occasion was Mr. Manoj Rodrigo, Head Coach of the Royal Padova Cricket Club, who has made history by breaking a four-decade-old Italian cricket record, proudly carrying the Sri Lankan name onto the international stage.

In recognition of his valuable contribution, two special commemorative plaques were presented:

  • One by Napoli Knights CC President Mr. Sudheera Chamith
  • The other by Ms. Ayesha, on behalf of Signor Guido De Novelli

Renowned educator and respected figure within the Sri Lankan community in Naples, Mr. Senaka Adikari, also graced the event. His inspiring words emphasized not only sporting excellence but also the importance of becoming responsible and disciplined individuals in society—guidance that will undoubtedly shape the club’s future.

Practice Wicket Opening

A key highlight of the event was the official opening of the newly constructed practice wicket, built with the vision of nurturing future cricketing talent. The club’s Head Coach, Mr. M.K. Subhash, marked the occasion by facing the first delivery, symbolically launching official training activities.

Adding further excitement, Dilini, representing the women’s cricket unit, impressed everyone with her confident bowling action—an encouraging sign for the club’s inclusive and progressive future.

Club Leadership

The Napoli Knights Cricket Club will move forward under the leadership of:

  • President: Mr. Sudheera Chamith
  • Vice President: Mr. Viraj Prasanna
  • Secretary: Mr. Aruna Shantha Vidana Pathirana
  • Head Coach: Mr. M.K. Subhash
  • Media Manager: Ms. Chani Kumari

Together with the committee members, they are committed to building a strong and sustainable cricket culture in Italy.

Sponsors and Appreciation

Special appreciation was extended to the generous sponsors whose invaluable support made this milestone possible:

  • Ms. Nilanthi Stella – F.E.LI.C.E
  • Mr. Yohan Sandaruwan – Ceylon Agenzia
  • Mr. Mangala – Rasanga Service

As a token of gratitude, official Napoli Knights T-shirts were presented to the sponsors.

United with a shared vision for success, Napoli Knights Cricket Club is fully geared to elevate Sri Lankan cricket’s identity in Italy under its new leadership.
