Sri Lanka have officially secured qualification for the 2028 ICC Men’s T20 World Cup, set to be co-hosted by Australia and New Zealand.
A total of 12 teams have already earned direct entry into the 2028 showpiece event. Australia and New Zealand qualified automatically as host nations.
The seven other teams that progressed to the Super 8 stage of the ongoing 2026 T20 World Cup have also confirmed their spots for the 2028 edition. As a result, Sri Lanka have now sealed their place in the next global T20 tournament.
Meanwhile, Afghanistan, Bangladesh, and Ireland have qualified based on their positions in the ICC T20I Team Rankings.
The remaining eight slots for the 2028 T20 World Cup will be decided through upcoming qualification tournaments.
