The first eliminator match of the Asian Legends League, currently taking place in India, was held yesterday, where the Sri Lankan Lions secured a convincing 26-run victory against Afghan Pathans.
Winning the toss, Sri Lankan Lions opted to bat first and put up a massive total of 230 runs for the loss of 3 wickets. Skipper Thisara Perera played a sensational knock, scoring an unbeaten 108 off just 36 balls.
In a breathtaking display of power-hitting, Thisara Perera smashed six consecutive sixes in the final over, which also included three wide deliveries, accumulating 39 runs in the over. Afghan Pathans’ bowler Ayaan Khan was at the receiving end of this brutal onslaught.
Supporting Perera, Shehan Fernando also remained unbeaten with 81 runs.
In response, Afghan Pathans could only manage 204 runs, falling short of the target.
