The Sri Lanka national under-20 football team recorded an exciting victory over Maldives national under-20 football team in the 2026 South Asian Under-20 Football Championship.
The match, played as a group stage fixture, started in favor of the hosts as Maldives finished the first half leading 2–0.
However, Sri Lanka produced a stunning second-half comeback to win the game 3–2, turning the match around in dramatic fashion.
Goals for Sri Lanka came from Mohamed Katheem, Ahmed Hijazi, and Hussein Abdullah.
Sri Lanka are scheduled to play two more matches in the group stage, where they will face Nepal national under-20 football team and Bhutan national under-20 football team.
The tournament is organized by the South Asian Football Federation and is currently being held in Maldives.
