Deputy Minister of Sports, Sugath Thilakaratne, visited the Kilinochchi Sports Complex in the Northern Province yesterday (02) to assess its current condition.
During the inspection, the Deputy Minister evaluated key facilities, including the outdoor stadium, indoor stadium, fitness center, and swimming pool.
Although the construction of the sports complex was completed in 2017, issues related to standards have led to its rapid deterioration, making proper utilization difficult. Observing these challenges, the Deputy Minister emphasized the importance of restoring the facility for the benefit of children across all districts in the Northern Province.
The event was attended by officials from the sports complex, representatives from the Ministry of Sports’ Sports Development Division, local athletes, parents, and members of the community.
