A significant discussion on enhancing sports cooperation between Sri Lanka and the United States took place today (18) at the Ministry of Youth and Sports.
The meeting was attended by U.S. Ambassador to Sri Lanka, Julie Chung, Minister of Youth and Sports Sunil Kumara Gamage, and Deputy Minister Eranga Gunasekara.
The discussions focused on strengthening sports ties between the two nations, with special emphasis on developing Sri Lanka’s sports tourism industry.
The officials also explored opportunities for organizing training camps through U.S. media centers in Sri Lanka, providing English language and vocational training programs for local youth.
Ambassador Chung commended the Sri Lankan government’s ongoing efforts to promote youth and sports development.
She reaffirmed the U.S. commitment to supporting these initiatives and expressed her appreciation for the government’s focus on mental health and vocational training in the latest budget proposals.
