World No.1 tennis player Jannik Sinner has been handed an immediate three-month suspension due to a doping violation.
The suspension was imposed following an agreement with the World Anti-Doping Agency (WADA), after Sinner was found guilty of using a banned substance.
Last Saturday, the Italian star appeared before the Court of Arbitration for Sport, where he admitted to unknowingly using a prohibited medication prescribed by his physiotherapist.
Acknowledging the unintentional nature of the violation, WADA issued Sinner a reduced three-month ban, effective from February 9 to May 4.
Despite the suspension, Sinner is expected to return in time for the prestigious French Open, set to begin on May 19.
