Sri Lanka delivered a commanding performance to defeat Oman by 105 runs in their Group B clash of the T20 World Cup at the Pallekele International Cricket Stadium.

  • Oman Innings – 120/9 (20 Overs)

Oman won the toss and chose to field, sending Sri Lanka in to bat first. The Lankan side made one change from the Ireland match, bringing in Dushan Hemantha to replace the injured Wanindu Hasaranga.

Openers Pathum Nissanka and Kamil Mishara started cautiously, but Mishara fell for 8 with the score at 15. Nissanka made 13.

Then came the fireworks:

  • Pavan Rathnayake struck his maiden T20 half-century, smashing 60 off 28 balls (8 fours, 1 six).
  • Kusal Mendis registered his 19th T20 half-century, scoring 61 off 45 balls (7 fours) before being run out.
  • Dasun Shanaka played a sensational cameo, blasting a 19-ball fifty — the fastest T20I half-century by a Sri Lankan. He hit 50 runs with 2 fours and 5 sixes.

Sri Lanka piled up 225/5, the highest total of this World Cup so far.

Oman Innings – 120/9 (20 Overs)

Chasing a daunting 226, Oman struggled from the start:

  • Jatinder Singh – 1
  • Aamir Kaleem – 6
  • Hamad Mirza – 9
  • Wasim Ali top-scored with 27

Oman managed only 120/9, sealing a huge Sri Lankan win.

A complete domination — power hitting, milestones, and total control from the Lions.
