At the end of the third day of the second Ashes Test between England and Australia, England trailed by 43 runs in their second innings with six wickets down.
Australia resumed Day 3 on 378/6 in their first innings and later extended their total to 511 runs before being bowled out in the second session.
For Australia, Jake Weatherald scored 72, Marnus Labuschagne 65, Steven Smith 61, Alex Carey 63, and Mitchell Starc contributed a valuable 77. With the ball for England, Brydon Carse picked up four wickets while Ben Stokes claimed three.
England began their second innings 177 runs behind. By the third session, Australia’s bowlers had reduced England to 134/6. Zak Crawley top-scored with 44, while Mitchell Starc, Michael Neser, and Scott Boland took two wickets each for Australia.
At stumps on Day 3, England still trail by 43 runs with four wickets remaining. Ben Stokes and Will Jacks continue to hold the crease.
