Dewald Brevis Century Powers South Africa to Second T20 Win

Dewald Brevis’ record-breaking century inspired South Africa to a 53-run victory over Australia in the second match of the three-game T20I series yesterday.

Batting first, South Africa posted 218/7 in 20 overs—their highest total against Australia in T20 internationals.

Brevis smashed the second-fastest T20I century for South Africa, reaching his ton in just 41 balls, before finishing with 125 runs off 56 deliveries. At 21 years old, he also became the youngest South African to score a T20I hundred.

Tristan Stubbs supported with 31 runs.

Glenn Maxwell and Ben Dwarshuis took two wickets each for Australia.

In reply, Australia were bowled out for 165 in 18 overs, with Tim David top-scoring with a fighting 50 off 24 balls and Alex Carey adding 26.

For South Africa, Kwena Maphaka and Corbin Bosch claimed three wickets apiece.

With the win, South Africa leveled the series 1-1, setting up a decider in the final match.
