Sri Lankan all-rounder Kamindu Mendis became the Player of the Match in his very first game representing MI Emirates in the ILT20 tournament currently being played in the United Arab Emirates.
Batting first, the Abu Dhabi Knight Riders were bowled out for just 122 runs. Alishan Sharafu scored 38, while Sunil Narine contributed 26. Kamindu Mendis delivered an exceptional bowling spell, taking 3 wickets for 21, while Fazalhaq Farooqi added 4 wickets for 14.
MI Emirates comfortably chased the target in the 14th over, losing only three wickets, thanks to an unbeaten 49 runs from Jonny Bairstow. Kamindu Mendis sealed the victory with a powerful six.
As a result, MI Emirates claimed a 7-wicket win, with Kamindu Mendis deservedly named the Player of the Match.
