Scotland Replace Bangladesh in 2026 ICC Men’s T20 World Cup

The International Cricket Council (ICC) has officially announced that Scotland will replace Bangladesh in the 2026 ICC Men’s T20 World Cup.

A controversial situation had emerged over the past three weeks after Bangladesh refused to travel to India to participate in the tournament. The T20 World Cup is scheduled to begin on the 7th of next month, with Sri Lanka and India serving as joint hosts.

Bangladesh were originally placed in Group C, with their group-stage matches planned to be held in India. However, citing security concerns, the Bangladesh Cricket Board requested that their matches be shifted to Sri Lanka instead.

The ICC, however, stated that there were no security threats to players, media personnel, or Bangladeshi supporters, and confirmed that the tournament schedule would not be changed. Although an ICC representative visited Bangladesh to hold discussions, the issue remained unresolved.

As a result, the ICC today confirmed that Bangladesh have been withdrawn from the tournament, and Scotland have been included as their replacement.

Accordingly, Group C will now consist of Scotland, England, Italy, Nepal, and the West Indies.
