Sri Lanka Under-19 team recorded an emphatic eight-wicket victory over Nepal in their opening match of the ICC Under-19 Asia Cup ODI tournament, played today in Dubai.
Batting first, Nepal were bundled out for just 82 runs in 28.5 overs, with Sibbreen Shrestha top-scoring with 18. Sri Lanka’s bowling attack was led brilliantly by Sethmika Seneviratne, who claimed an outstanding five-wicket haul, conceding only 25 runs.
In reply, Sri Lanka chased down the modest target with ease, reaching 84 runs in just 14.5 overs for the loss of two wickets. Dimantha Mahawithana remained unbeaten on 39, while Kavija Gamage supported him well with an unbeaten 24 to seal a comfortable victory.
Sri Lanka will next face Afghanistan in their upcoming group match, scheduled to be played on Monday.
