The Sri Lanka cricket team returned home last night after a spirited campaign in the Asia Cup.
Undefeated in the group stage, Sri Lanka advanced to the Super 4 by defeating Bangladesh, Afghanistan, and Hong Kong. However, the Super 4 proved challenging as the team lost all three of their matches at this stage.
In the final Super 4 clash, Sri Lanka gave India a strong fight but fell short in a tense Super Over. Despite the defeat, Pathum Nissanka made headlines by becoming the tournament’s first centurion, scoring a brilliant 107 in one of the matches.
Across six matches in the tournament, Nissanka amassed 261 runs, finishing as the second-highest run-scorer, highlighting his growing prominence on the Asia Cup stage.
