Sri Lanka have successfully qualified for the Super Six stage of the ICC Under-19 One Day Cricket World Cup after defeating Ireland in their second group-stage match.
The encounter was played in Namibia, where Sri Lanka, batting first, posted a solid total of 267 runs for the loss of five wickets within their allotted 50 overs.
Captain Vimath Dinsara led from the front with a fine knock of 95 runs, while Chamika Heenatigala added valuable support with an unbeaten 51.
In reply, the Irish Under-19 team were bowled out for 161 runs in 40.1 overs, as Sri Lanka secured a convincing 106-run victory.
With the ball, Dulnith Sigera starred by claiming four wickets, while Rasith Nimsara chipped in with three wickets to dismantle the Irish batting lineup.
This emphatic win confirmed Sri Lanka’s place among the top six teams in the tournament, strengthening their campaign in the Under-19 World Cup.
