Sri Lanka Under-19 pulled off a nail-biting 2-wicket victory over Afghanistan Under-19 in their One Day International clash of the Under-19 Asia Cup.
Batting first, Afghanistan U19 were bowled out for 235 runs at the end of 50 overs. Osman Sadat top-scored with 52 runs, while Faisal Shinozada added 39.
Sri Lanka’s bowling attack was led by Sethmika Senavirathna and Dulnith Sigera, who picked up three wickets each, while Rasith Nimsara and Chamika Heenatigala claimed two wickets apiece.
In reply, Sri Lanka U19 reached the target in the final over, despite losing eight wickets, to clinch a dramatic win. Opener Viran Chamuditha anchored the innings with a well-made 62, while Chamika Heenatigala remained unbeaten on 51, guiding Sri Lanka home under pressure.
For Afghanistan, Nooristani Omarsai impressed with the ball, taking three wickets.
With this crucial win, Sri Lanka Under-19 secured qualification for the semi-finals, joining Bangladesh as the two teams to advance from Group B.
