Sri Lanka’s middle-distance star Nimali Leenarachchi has once again showcased her brilliance on the international stage, winning her second gold medal at the 23rd Asian Masters Athletics Championship currently being held in Chennai, India.
Nimali triumphed in the Women’s 1500m event in the 35–40 age category, marking yet another proud moment for Sri Lanka. Earlier in the championship, she had already secured gold in the 800m event, reaffirming her dominance in middle-distance running.
She is also set to compete in the 4x100m and 4x400m relay events scheduled for tomorrow, as she continues to represent Sri Lanka with pride and passion.
A decorated athlete, Nimali has previously brought glory to the nation at both South Asian and Asian-level championships, and notably represented Sri Lanka at the Tokyo 2020 Olympic Games in the 800m event.
Speaking after her latest victory, Nimali expressed her desire to continue representing Sri Lanka in future international competitions, saying her motivation to bring honor to her country remains stronger than ever.
