Scotland etched their name into the record books by becoming the first team to cross the 200-run mark in the 2026 T20 World Cup, securing a commanding 73-run victory over Italy in today’s match in Kolkata.

Batting first, Scotland piled up a massive 207/4 in their 20 overs, setting the highest total of the tournament so far.

Opener George Munsey led the charge with a superb 84 off 54 balls, while Brandon McMullen provided a late onslaught, smashing an unbeaten 41 off just 18 deliveries.

For Italy, Ali Hasan, Grant Stewart, Thomas Draca, and JJ Smuts claimed one wicket each.

Chasing a daunting target, Italy were bowled out for 134 in 16.4 overs. Ben Manenti top-scored with 52 off 31 balls, while Henry Manenti contributed 37 runs.

Scotland’s bowling attack sealed the game in style, with Michael Leask delivering a match-winning spell of 4 wickets for just 17 runs. Mark Watt chipped in with two wickets.

With this victory, Scotland climbed to second place on the points table.

Michael Leask was deservedly named Player of the Match for his all-round impact.
