Scotland etched their name into the record books by becoming the first team to cross the 200-run mark in the 2026 T20 World Cup, securing a commanding 73-run victory over Italy in today’s match in Kolkata.
Batting first, Scotland piled up a massive 207/4 in their 20 overs, setting the highest total of the tournament so far.
Opener George Munsey led the charge with a superb 84 off 54 balls, while Brandon McMullen provided a late onslaught, smashing an unbeaten 41 off just 18 deliveries.
For Italy, Ali Hasan, Grant Stewart, Thomas Draca, and JJ Smuts claimed one wicket each.
Chasing a daunting target, Italy were bowled out for 134 in 16.4 overs. Ben Manenti top-scored with 52 off 31 balls, while Henry Manenti contributed 37 runs.
Scotland’s bowling attack sealed the game in style, with Michael Leask delivering a match-winning spell of 4 wickets for just 17 runs. Mark Watt chipped in with two wickets.
With this victory, Scotland climbed to second place on the points table.
