Sri Lanka face a daunting final day in the first Test against India, needing another 288 runs for victory with six wickets in hand after the fourth day in Galle.
India were bowled out for 193 in their second innings before tea, setting Sri Lanka a challenging 372-run target.
Rishabh Pant top-scored for India with 66, while Devdutt Padikkal added 44.
Sri Lanka’s bowlers produced an impressive effort, with Asitha Fernando claiming four wickets, Prabath Jayasuriya taking three, Lahiru Kumara picking up two and Keshara Nuwanth taking one.
Sri Lanka’s chase got off to a disastrous start, with their first four wickets falling for just 47 runs. However, Dhananjaya de Silva and Sonal Dinusha steadied the innings with an unbeaten 37-run partnership.
At stumps, Dhananjaya was unbeaten on 31, while Dinusha remained on 25.
Sri Lanka require 288 more runs on the final day, while India need just six wickets to seal victory.
