The India national cricket team stormed into the T20 World Cup semi-finals yesterday with a five-wicket victory over the West Indies cricket team in a Super 8 clash in Kolkata.

With this result, India join South Africa national cricket team, England cricket team and New Zealand national cricket team in the final four.

After winning the toss, India opted to bowl first. West Indies posted a competitive 195 for 4 in their 20 overs. Roston Chase scored 40, while Jason Holder remained unbeaten on 37. Jasprit Bumrah led the bowling effort with two wickets.

Chasing 196, India got home in style, reaching 199 for 5 in 19.2 overs.

Sanju Samson starred with a sensational unbeaten 97 off just 50 balls, smashing 12 fours and 4 sixes to guide India over the line. Tilak Varma chipped in with 27. For the West Indies, Jason Holder and Shamar Joseph claimed two wickets each.

This marks the sixth time India have reached the semi-finals in T20 World Cup history.

The first semi-final, between New Zealand and South Africa, is scheduled for the 4th, while India will face England in the second semi-final on the 5th.
