Pakistan wrapped up the three-match ODI series with a dominant eight-wicket victory over Sri Lanka in the second game played yesterday in Rawalpindi.
Batting first, Sri Lanka posted 288 for 8, but it was a total built on starts rather than big scores. All four top-order batters got going but none managed to convert into a substantial innings. In the middle order, Janith Liyanage fought hard for a well-constructed 54, while Kamindu Mendis added a valuable 44.
Pakistan’s bowlers kept the pressure on throughout, with Haris Rauf and Abrar Ahmed leading the attack brilliantly—each picking up three wickets.
In reply, Pakistan’s openers got off to a flying start, racing to a 77-run partnership by the 10th over. From there, Babar Azam took full control, crafting a masterful unbeaten 102 to take his side home. Mohammad Rizwan offered solid support with an unbeaten 51 as Pakistan cruised to victory.
Sri Lanka’s fielding woes proved costly once again as they dropped three straightforward chances, further easing Pakistan’s path to the win. The only bright spot for Sri Lanka’s bowlers was Dushmantha Chameera, who claimed both wickets to fall.
With this win, Pakistan take an unassailable 2–0 lead in the series, securing the trophy with one match still left to play. The final ODI will take place on the 16th.
