The Sri Lanka Masters cricket team was eliminated from the International Masters League T20, falling to a narrow 6-run defeat against the West Indies Masters in the second semi-final held in Raipur, India.
After winning the toss, Sri Lanka opted to field first, allowing the West Indies to post a competitive 179/5 in 20 overs. Brian Lara anchored the innings with 41 runs, while Dinesh Ramdin smashed an unbeaten 50 off just 22 balls, which included four fours and three sixes.
In response, Sri Lanka fought hard but fell short, managing 173/9 in 20 overs. Asela Gunaratne top-scored with a valiant 66 runs, while Upul Tharanga (30) and Kumar Sangakkara (17) made useful contributions. However, the West Indies bowlers, led by Tino Best (4 wickets), restricted Sri Lanka’s chase.
With this victory, the West Indies Masters advance to the final, where they will face the India Masters tomorrow.
