The Sri Lanka women’s national cricket team secured a four-wicket victory over the West Indies women’s national cricket team in the second T20I played in the West Indies yesterday.
After winning the toss, Sri Lanka opted to field first. The hosts were bowled out for 101 runs in their 20 overs. Captain Hayley Matthews top-scored with 28.
Malki Madara and Nilakshika Silva starred with the ball for Sri Lanka, claiming three wickets apiece.
In reply, Sri Lanka chased down the target in 18.1 overs, reaching 102 for 6 to seal the win. Skipper Chamari Athapaththu led from the front with 39 runs.
For the West Indies, Afy Fletcher and Qiana Joseph picked up two wickets each.
The first match of the three-game series was washed out due to rain. With this win, Sri Lanka now lead the series 1-0 with one match remaining.
