The world’s first Women’s T20 World Cup for the Blind 2025 was officially introduced today (October 1) at the Taj Samudra Hotel, Colombo. The event also marked the launch of the official website of the Sri Lanka Blind Cricket Association.

The ceremony was held under the patronage of Youth Affairs and Sports Minister Sunil Kumara Gamage, with the participation of MP Sugath Wasantha Silva, President of the Indian Blind Cricket Association Dr. G. Kivadasannavar, Chairman of the Sri Lanka Blind Cricket Association M. R. Sudesh Tharanga, President of the Indian Blind Cricket Association Mr. Buse Gawda, along with members from both associations.

Speaking at the event, Minister Gamage stressed that identifying individuals solely by their physical disabilities was an injustice. He urged that alternative terminology should be considered to recognize them with dignity and respect.
