Air Force and Sabaragamuwa University Shine at China-Sri Lanka Dragon Boat Festival

Air Force wins men’s championship, Sabaragamuwa ‘A’ dominates women’s event at Diyawanna Lake

The China–Sri Lanka Friendship Dragon Boat Championship was held yesterday at Diyawanna Lake, featuring fierce competition and vibrant sporting spirit.

In the men’s open category, the Sri Lanka Air Force emerged as champions, while the Sri Lanka Army claimed second place, and the Diyawanna Rowing Club finished third.

In the women’s open category, the Sabaragamuwa University ‘A’ team clinched the championship, while their ‘B’ team secured second place. Visakha Vidyalaya Colombo earned third place.

The event was jointly organized by the Ministry of Sports and the Chinese Embassy in Sri Lanka, with active participation from the Tri-Forces and over 80 athletes from the Northern Province.

Minister of Sports Sunil Kumara Gamagedara and several dignitaries attended the event, adding prestige to this symbol of friendship between Sri Lanka and China.
