Sri Lankan wrestler shines in Vietnam with podium finish in 57kg category Sri Lanka’s Nethmi Ahinsa has won a bronze medal at the Asian Under-23 and Under-17 Wrestling Championship, currently being held in Vietnam from June 18 to 27.
Competing in the women’s under-23 57kg weight class, Nethmi secured the bronze after an impressive series of bouts.
She qualified for the semifinals after defeating a competitor from Chinese Taipei in the preliminary round. However, in the semifinal round, she was narrowly defeated by a wrestler from North Korea.
Nethmi went on to claim the bronze medal by defeating her opponent from Uzbekistan in the third-place match, marking another significant achievement in her growing wrestling career.
