Young Sri Lankan racing sensation Yevan David, who became the first Sri Lankan to clinch the Rookie Championship and finish second overall at the 2025 Euroformula Open, met with Minister of Youth and Sports Sunil Kumara Gamage today (December 11) at the ministry premises.
As a symbolic gesture of gratitude for this historic achievement, Yevan David respectfully presented his championship trophies to the Minister, stating that the titles rightfully belong to the people of Sri Lanka.
Speaking after the meeting, Minister Sunil Kumara Gamage praised Yevan’s exceptional accomplishment, stating that his victory has brought tremendous pride and honour to Sri Lanka. He further emphasized that the government will continue to provide full and unwavering support to young athletes.
Following his outstanding performance in the 2025 Euroformula Open season, Yevan David is now preparing to compete in the 2026 FIA Formula 3 Championship, which will make him the first Sri Lankan ever to race at such a high level in global motorsport.
