Pasindu Sooriyabandara has been called into the Sri Lanka squad as a replacement for the injured Dinesh Chandimal for the ongoing first Test against India in Galle.
The match is being played at the Galle International Cricket Stadium, with the fourth day underway today.
Chandimal suffered an injury while fielding during India’s second innings after being struck by the ball on his head and shoulder. He was subsequently taken to hospital for medical assessment and underwent a scan.
Sri Lanka Cricket confirmed that, pending the full medical report, Chandimal has been ruled out of the first Test and match referee approval has been granted for Sooriyabandara to replace him.
The replacement comes as Sri Lanka continue their battle against India in the opening Test of the series.
