The Zimbabwe Cricket selection committee has named veteran wicketkeeper-batter Brendan Taylor in their 16-member squad for the upcoming two-match ODI series against the touring Sri Lankan side.
This marks Taylor’s comeback to international cricket after four years, adding significant experience to Craig Ervine’s squad.
Taylor, now 39, had been serving a three-and-a-half-year suspension imposed by the ICC Anti-Corruption Unit after admitting to receiving bribes related to match-fixing approaches in 2021. Alongside four corruption charges, he was also penalized for a doping violation.
Alongside Taylor, Zimbabwe have recalled Tony Munyonga, Clive Madande, and Brad Evans, while uncapped 32-year-old all-rounder Ernest Masuku also makes the squad.
Meanwhile, the Sri Lankan team, already in Zimbabwe, began training in Harare yesterday ahead of the series.
The two-match ODI series between Sri Lanka and Zimbabwe will be played on August 29 and 31 in Harare.
