In the opening clash of the three-match ODI series between Pakistan and the West Indies, the visitors came out on top with a confident five-wicket victory yesterday.
Batting first, the West Indies posted 280 before being bundled out in the final over (49th). Evin Lewis anchored the innings with a solid 60, while Shai Hope added 55 and Roston Chase chipped in with 53.
Pakistan’s bowling attack was led by Shaheen Shah Afridi, who scalped four crucial wickets, with Naeem Shah adding three to the tally.
Chasing 281, Pakistan’s batting unit kept their cool, losing only five wickets to seal the win at 284/5. Mohammad Rizwan laid the platform with a well-constructed 53, while Hasan Nawaz finished the job in style, remaining unbeaten on 63. For the hosts, Shamar Joseph picked up two wickets but couldn’t stop the Green Shirts’ charge.
Fittingly, Hasan Nawaz was named Player of the Match for his composed, match-winning knock.
Pakistan now takes a 1–0 lead in the series, with momentum firmly in their corner.
