Nalanda College Colombo emerged victorious in the 49th Battle of the Maroons One-Day cricket encounter, defeating Ananda College Colombo by 53 runs.

The match was played at the Sinhalese Sports Club Ground.

After winning the toss, Nalanda captain Osanda Pamuditha elected to bat first.

Nalanda were bowled out for 261 runs, while Ananda were restricted to 208 all out in reply.

Nalanda had a difficult start, losing three wickets for 33 runs in the first 10 overs. However, a crucial 144-run partnership for the fourth wicket between Ranmith Denuwara and Nemindu Akmeemana steadied the innings.

Akmeemana scored 79 off 73 balls, while Denuwara contributed 78 off 104 deliveries. Malsha Fernando added 19 runs.

For Ananda, Dasith Batugahage and Sharada Jayaratne picked up two wickets each, while Thinura Sanujitha, Kithma Vidanapathirana, Rashan Dilaksha and Ashinsa Nainayaka claimed one wicket apiece.

In the chase, Danidu Sellapperuma top-scored for Ananda with 80 off 92 balls, while Sharada Jayaratne made 23 and Kithma Vidanapathirana added 22.

Osanda Pamuditha led the bowling for Nalanda with 3 wickets for 19 runs, while Santhul Wijerathne claimed 2 wickets for 50.

With this performance, Nalanda secured a 53-run victory in the 49th edition of the historic one-day encounter.
