Having qualified for the final alongside Australia, South Africa chased down a fourth-innings target of 282 runs, marking a historic achievement in their cricketing journey.
Australia posted 212 runs in their first innings, while South Africa responded with 138. In their second innings, Australia were restricted to 207, setting the Proteas a challenging target.
South Africa resumed play on the fourth day at 213 for 2, needing just 69 more runs to win. Despite losing three additional wickets, they successfully reached the target, rewriting the record books.
Aiden Markram was the hero of the chase, anchoring the innings with a magnificent 138 — his eighth Test century — guiding his team to a memorable and historic victory.
