Sri Lanka secured a convincing 41-run victory over West Indies in the first One-Day International played in Kingston.
After being put in to bat, Sri Lanka posted a competitive total of 303/7 in their allotted 50 overs.
Pathum Nissanka led the batting effort with a stylish 79, while Kusal Mendis contributed 72 runs. Captain Charith Asalanka added 45, and Janith Liyanage chipped in with a valuable 44 to help Sri Lanka cross the 300-run mark.
In reply, West Indies were bowled out for 262 in 49.2 overs, falling 41 runs short of the target.
Shai Hope was the top scorer for the hosts with 56 runs, but the Sri Lankan bowlers kept the pressure on throughout the chase.
Fast bowler Dushmantha Chameera starred with the ball, claiming 4 wickets for 67 runs, playing a key role in sealing Sri Lanka’s impressive victory.
