Sri Lanka’s “Asidisi” Cricket Team Set for India Tour to Compete in South Asian Championship

The “Asidisi” cricket team representing the Ministry of Health and Media is set to depart for India on November 16 to take part in the upcoming South Asian Great Cricket Steps Senior Men’s Championship, a T20 tournament scheduled to be held in Andhra Pradesh from November 16 to 21.

Organized by the Great Cricket Steps Association of India, the championship will feature teams from across the South Asian region competing for top honors.

Formed in 2007 as a softball team, the “Asidisi” side transitioned into a leather-ball team in 2016 and has since achieved significant success. They were crowned Public Service Champions in the “F” Division in 2023, Joint Champions in the “E” Division in 2024, and Runners-up in the “D” Division in 2025.

The team has also represented Sri Lanka internationally, touring India in 2017 and Malaysia in both 2018 and 2019, securing multiple victories abroad.

The upcoming India tour is made possible with the generous support of several sponsors — Litro Gas Lanka Limited as the main sponsor, Green Life Plantation as co-sponsor, Slim Pharmaceutical (Pvt) Ltd as medical partner, and The Chance Sports providing sports equipment sponsorship.

The “Asidisi” team aims to showcase Sri Lankan spirit and strength on Indian soil once again.
