The first Test between touring West Indies and New Zealand—held in Christchurch as part of the World Test Championship cycle—ended in a draw.

Batting first, New Zealand posted 231 runs in their first innings. Kane Williamson scored 52, while Michael Bracewell contributed 47.

West Indies, in reply, were bowled out for 167 runs on Day 2, with Tagenarine Chanderpaul scoring 52 and Shai Hope making 56. Jacob Duffy starred with the ball for New Zealand, claiming 5 wickets.

In their second innings, New Zealand declared at 466 for 8 on Day 4. Tom Latham hammered 145, and Rachin Ravindra produced a magnificent 176. Kemar Roach picked up 5 wickets for the visitors.

With a massive target of 531 runs to win, West Indies batted with remarkable determination.
Shai Hope scored a brilliant 140, while Justin Greaves produced a sensational knock—an unbeaten 202—to steer his team to safety. Kemar Roach also remained unbeaten on 58, helping secure the draw.

Jacob Duffy impressed again in the second innings, taking 3 wickets.

With the first Test ending 0–0, the second match of the three-Test series begins on December 10 in Wellington.

Justin Greaves for his all-round performance, including an unbeaten double century was named as the player of the match.
