Sri Lankan weightlifter Dilanka Isuru Kumara made the nation proud by clinching a bronze medal at the Commonwealth Weightlifting Championships held in India. This marks Sri Lanka’s first medal of the tournament, adding early glory to the country’s campaign.
Competing in the 60kg weight category, Kumara lifted a combined total of 249kg to secure his place on the podium. He impressed with a lift of 138kg in the Clean and Jerk and 111kg in the Snatch, showcasing both strength and precision.
His bronze medal triumph not only highlights Sri Lanka’s potential in weightlifting but also sets the tone for the rest of the national contingent competing at the championships.
