The first match of the two-game ODI series between Sri Lanka and Australia kicked off this morning at R. Premadasa Stadium in Colombo.
Winning the toss, Sri Lanka opted to bat first but struggled against Australia’s bowling attack, getting bowled out for just 214 runs. While wickets kept falling at regular intervals, captain Charith Asalanka played a lone fighting knock, scoring a magnificent century (127 runs).
Dunith Wellalage contributed 30 runs, but no other Sri Lankan batsman managed to cross the 20-run mark.
For Australia, Sean Abbott took 3 wickets, while Spencer Johnson, Aaron Hardie, and Nathan Ellis claimed 2 wickets each.
Australia now needs 215 runs to secure victory.
