South Africa sealed a commanding 2–0 Test series victory over Zimbabwe with a thumping innings and 236-run win, thanks to a record-breaking triple century from captain Wiaan Mulder.
Batting first, the Proteas declared their innings at a massive 626 for 5, with Mulder remaining unbeaten on 367—one of the highest individual scores in modern Test cricket. Though he had both time and opportunity to chase Brian Lara’s world record of 400 not out, Mulder chose to declare the innings, prioritizing team success over personal milestones.
He was well-supported by David Bedingham, who scored 82, and Pretorius, who added a valuable 78. Zimbabwe’s bowlers had a rough outing, with Tanaka Chivanga and Kundai Matigimu picking up two wickets each.
In reply, Zimbabwe crumbled under pressure, managing only 170 runs in their first innings. Sean Williams stood tall with a gritty 83 not out, while South African spinner Prenelan Subrayen grabbed 4 wickets, and Mulder and Cody Yusuf chipped in with 2 wickets apiece.
Following on, Zimbabwe put up slightly more resistance in their second innings but could only reach 220 all out. Craig Ervine scored 49 and Nick Welch contributed 55. South Africa’s bowlers continued their dominance with Corbin Bosch claiming 4 wickets, and Senuran Muthusamy taking 3 wickets to wrap up the match.
With this result, South Africa secured a 2–0 clean sweep, dominating both Tests with bat and ball, and showcasing their strength ahead of future international assignments.
