Sri Lanka sealed the three-match ODI series by claiming the second encounter against Zimbabwe with a convincing five-wicket victory.
After winning the toss, Sri Lanka opted to bowl first, handing the opening innings to Zimbabwe. Brian Bennett and Ben Curran gave their side a steady start, but Bennett fell for 21 with the score on 55. Brendan Taylor followed soon after with 20 runs, leaving Zimbabwe under pressure.
Ben Curran anchored the innings with an impressive 79, while Sikandar Raza remained unbeaten on 59, pushing Zimbabwe to a competitive 277 for 7 in their 50 overs. Dushmantha Chameera led Sri Lanka’s bowling attack with three wickets, while Asitha Fernando chipped in with two.
In response, Sri Lanka’s chase was spearheaded by Pathum Nissanka, who produced a majestic knock of 122 runs — his seventh ODI century. He was well supported by Charith Asalanka, who added 71 runs, marking his 17th ODI half-century. Despite losing a few wickets, Sri Lanka cruised home with 278 for 5 in 49.3 overs.
Nissanka was named both Player of the Match and Player of the Series for his outstanding batting display.
