The Lucknow Super Giants are set to name a replacement for Wanindu Hasaranga ahead of the Indian Premier League 2026 season.
According to reports, LSG’s Director of Cricket Tom Moody has confirmed that the official announcement regarding the replacement player will be made within the next 24 to 48 hours.
South African left-arm spinner George Linde is reportedly the frontrunner to replace Hasaranga, although he is yet to feature in an IPL season.
Hasaranga is still recovering from a left hamstring injury sustained during the recent ICC Men’s T20 World Cup in February and has not regained full fitness.
It has also been reported that he did not undergo the mandatory fitness test conducted by Sri Lanka Cricket, which is required to obtain clearance for participation in overseas franchise leagues.
This development comes as a setback for both Hasaranga and LSG, who were counting on the Sri Lankan star for the upcoming season.
