India wrapped up the five-match T20 series against New Zealand with a commanding 46-run victory in the fifth and final match played yesterday, sealing the series 4–1.
In a high-scoring thriller, India batted first and piled up a massive 271/5 in their 20 overs — the third-highest total ever recorded by India in T20 internationals.
The hosts also smashed 23 sixes in the innings, equalling their record for the most sixes in a T20 match.
Ishan Kishan starred with a sensational knock, scoring his maiden T20I century — 103 runs off just 43 balls. Captain Suryakumar Yadav contributed 63 off 30 balls, while Hardik Pandya added a quickfire 42 off 17 deliveries.
For New Zealand, Lockie Ferguson claimed 2 wickets, while Jacob Duffy, Kyle Jamieson, and Mitchell Santner picked up one each.
Chasing 272, New Zealand fought hard but were bowled out for 225 runs.
Finn Allen blasted 80 off 38 balls, while Ish Sodhi made 33 off 15 and Rachin Ravindra scored 30 off 17.
India’s bowlers sealed the deal with Arshdeep Singh taking a brilliant 5-wicket haul, supported by Axar Patel’s 3 wickets.
With this result, India clinched the T20 series 4–1.
Ishan Kishan was named Player of the Match, while Suryakumar Yadav earned the Player of the Series award.
