Former Sri Lankan international Pubudu Dassanayake has been appointed as the new head coach of the USA national men’s cricket team, following the departure of Australian great Stuart Law after the ICC Men’s T20 World Cup, which was co-hosted by the West Indies and USA.
This marks Dassanayake’s second stint with the USA side, having previously held the same position from 2016 to 2019, during which he played a pivotal role in the team’s development.
The 54-year-old brings a wealth of experience, both as a player and a coach. He represented Sri Lanka in 11 Test matches and 16 One Day Internationals before transitioning into coaching roles with several international sides, including Nepal and Canada.
Dassanayake now returns to the USA setup with a renewed mission to further elevate American cricket on the global stage. His leadership comes at a crucial time as USA Cricket aims to build on the momentum generated from co-hosting a global ICC event.
