The University of Colombo stamped their authority on the 15th Inter-University Rugby Championship, securing the title with a powerful victory over arch-rivals University of Sri Jayewardenepura in the grand final held at the Nittawela Stadium in Kandy.
From kickoff, Colombo dominated the game, ending the first half with a commanding 21-3 lead, showcasing precision in attack and solid defense. Despite Jayewardenepura’s spirited second-half comeback, it wasn’t enough to overturn the deficit, as Colombo powered through to a 33-15 triumph.
This year’s tournament featured 13 university teams, but it was Colombo’s discipline, speed, and teamwork that set them apart from the rest.
With this emphatic win, the University of Colombo once again proves why they’re a force to be reckoned with in the local university rugby scene.
