Ten teams have secured direct qualification for the 2027 ICC Men’s Cricket World Cup, which will be jointly hosted by South Africa, Zimbabwe and Namibia.
The final qualification picture was confirmed following Afghanistan’s thrilling three-wicket victory over Ireland yesterday, August 10. The win also secured Afghanistan’s place at the World Cup for the fourth time.
Among the co-hosts, South Africa and Zimbabwe, as ICC Full Members, automatically qualify for the tournament. Following the latest ODI rankings, the next eight highest-ranked teams also secured direct qualification.
The 10 teams to qualify directly are:
- South Africa
- Zimbabwe
- Australia
- India
- New Zealand
- Pakistan
- Sri Lanka
- England
- Afghanistan
- Bangladesh
Meanwhile, the West Indies have missed out on direct qualification and will now have to battle through the World Cup Qualifier alongside other teams for one of the remaining four spots.
The 2027 Cricket World Cup will feature a total of 14 teams, with the tournament scheduled to take place from October 4 to November 21, 2027.
