The West Indies finished Day Two of the first Test against Sri Lanka on 271/5 in their first innings, trailing the visitors by 37 runs at Antigua.
Sri Lanka had earlier been bowled out for 308 in their first innings after posting a competitive total on the opening day.
In reply, West Indies openers John Campbell and Brandon King gave the hosts a solid start with a 58-run opening partnership. King made 31 before becoming the first wicket to fall, while Campbell added 39.
At stumps, Amir Jangoo remained unbeaten on 78, with captain Roston Chase providing excellent support on an unbeaten 42, putting the West Indies in a strong position heading into Day Three.
For Sri Lanka, Asitha Fernando and Milan Rathnayake claimed two wickets each, keeping the visitors in the contest despite the hosts’ steady progress.
