Australia secured a place in the final of the ICC Women’s T20 World Cup after defeating the West Indies by eight wickets in the first semi-final.
The match was played at the Kennington Oval in England, where Australia won the toss and elected to field first.
Batting first, the West Indies posted 125/7 from their 20 overs. Captain Hayley Matthews top-scored with 30 runs, while Shemaine Campbelle contributed 22 and Deandra Dottin remained unbeaten on 26.
Australia’s bowlers shared the workload brilliantly, with Sophie Molineux, Ashleigh Gardner, and Georgia Wareham claiming two wickets each.
In reply, Australia comfortably chased down the target, reaching 127/2 in just 13 overs.
Beth Mooney anchored the innings with an unbeaten 61, while Ashleigh Gardner finished unbeaten on 35 to guide Australia to victory.
This marks the eighth time Australia have reached the final of the ICC Women’s T20 World Cup, further cementing their status as one of the tournament’s most successful teams.
The second semi-final between England and South Africa is scheduled to be played tomorrow, with the winner earning the remaining place in the final.
